New
York, NY - May 17, 2006 - Popular downtown comic Andres
du Bouchet assumes the identities of various alter-egos as
he presents this collection of hilarious monologues, or Hilarilogues.
Whether assaying the role of a blind singer, a genial vampire, a powerless
superhero or even an imperious housecat, du Bouchet is relentless in
his tireless pursuit of two things: 1) fully realizing and addressing
the reality of the situation no matter how outlandish, and 2) getting
the laughs.
Hilarilogues will be presented as part of terraNOVA Collective's
Third Annual Solo Arts Festival. The
hour long collection was written solely by du Bouchet and directed by
Michael Bernard whose last directorial role was the Aspen Comedy
Festival smash hit “The Chipperton Family Vocaltainers Shooby
Dooby Dooby Hour”.
Audiences will enjoy such pieces as:
--
Songs and stories from World Famous Blind Entertainer Cash Brulee!
-- "So You've Been Turned!" - an informative powerpoint presentation
from New Vampire Orientation Counselor Murray Peterson.
--
A searing interrogation by recently neutered housecat Mr. Fluffernutter.
Du
Bouchet has been writing and performing in New York City since 1997.
His unique characters, monologues, sketches and absurdist style make
him hard to miss. He was named one of the best comics of 2004 by Time
Out NY and a "Stand Up Best Bet" by Backstage which said of du Bouchet,
"He's the kind of consistent
performer you know will always do something fresh and original, not
to mention wonderfully silly...so run and catch him now, while Hollywood's
loss is our comedy gain."
Additionally,
dDu Bouchet, in the role of Francisco Guglioni, hosts the funniest show
with the longest name: Giant
Tuesday Night of Amazing Inventions & Also There is a Game!!!
("GTN") which was recently featured in the New York Times
and the NY Post and won an ECNY Award for Best Variety Show.

About
The Festival
To provide a forum for great storytelling is the genesis of terraNOVA’s
Solo Arts Festival. “A basic concept has vanished from most
art forms, including much of the theatre presented today: Storytelling,”
Festival Co-Producer James Carter said. “The art of storytelling
is simply beautiful, and when it is done well, it can transport
the viewer to a place of fantasy or heightened reality. For thousands
of years humankind told stories to entertain, yes, but moreover,
to educate, enlighten and reflect the world in which we struggle.
This reflection generates amazing art.”
In the first two years of the festival’s existence, Carter,
with his producing partner Jennifer Conley Darling, strove to establish
a precedent. They desired to introduce diverse artists who might
not typically play in the theater to a theatre-going audience. “Now,
in our third year, we are proud to present 18 nights of some of
the best solo artists the world has to offer,” Darling said.
"Each artist has a unique story to tell. We hope people will
join us in discovering these new stories, which will most certainly
educate, enlighten and, of course, entertain."
